Eating on site
Restaurant Bootsmann
Neapolitan wood-fired pizza, fish, meat and fresh salads, a few steps from your pitch, with a conservatory and a large terrace.
Eating out with no drivea few minutes on foot
The Bootsmann sits at the edge of the site, a few minutes on foot from the pitches. Short enough that you end up going on the spur of the moment, when nobody feels like cooking any more. It's open Tuesday to Sunday, midday until evening; on Mondays the kitchen stays cold.
On the menu: starters and salads, fish, meat and separate dishes for children. And the Neapolitan pizza from the wood-fired oven, which is what most people come for.
You eat on the terrace or in the conservatory, depending on what the wind allows. On the west coast that is not a detail: when it blows onshore you sit a good deal more comfortably behind glass, and on those evenings the conservatory fills up first.
You can also come just for a drink without eating. Upstairs is the Physiotherapie Wallnau training room.

Menu, opening times and table reservationsat bootsmann.restaurant
The Bootsmann is an independent business with its own website. That's where the current food and drinks menu is, that's where the opening times are, and that's where you reserve your table.
In the evening and at weekends it's worth booking. The conservatory is more popular than it is large.

What to expectthe good bits

Wood-fired pizza as in Naples
The dough is kneaded by hand from Italian flour and rested for more than twenty-four hours, then topped with San Marzano tomatoes and buffalo mozzarella. The wood-fired oven runs hot enough to finish a pizza in about ninety seconds, hence the puffed rim with its dark blisters.
Conservatory and a large terrace
Outside as long as the sun holds, behind glass once the wind picks up. Both work, and people move between them more often than they'd like.
Wine, beer and cocktails
With a meal or on its own: wine, beer, cocktails and soft drinks, inside or out.
Warm service
Everything on the menu is available to take away: order, collect, eat at the caravan or on your pitch. If you don't want to get out of your tracksuit after a long day on the beach, you don't have to.
